Privacy Policy

ScamSnap, a product of BuildMonkeys LLC (“we”, “our”, “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use ScamSnap, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have.

By using ScamSnap you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to provide the service:

Account information:your email address and a unique identifier from your sign-in provider (Apple or Google). If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email” feature, we receive only the relay address, not your real email.
Scan content: text, links, and screenshots you submit for analysis. We store these so you can see your scan history.
Usage information: number of scans, scan timestamps, the verdict you received, and feedback you provided on a verdict (thumbs up/down).
Device information: app version and operating system, used for debugging and compatibility.
Network information: IP address, captured in our server logs for security and rate limiting. Logs are retained for up to 30 days.

We do not collect your contacts, location, photos beyond what you actively submit for a scan, or any data from other apps.

How We Use Your Information

To analyze the messages, links, and screenshots you submit.
To enforce our free-tier scan limit and bill paid subscriptions.
To improve detection accuracy using aggregate, de-identified statistics.
To respond to support requests.
To detect abuse and protect the service.

Third-Party Services

ScamSnap relies on third parties to deliver the service. Your data may be processed by:

Supabase (authentication and database hosting). Hosted in the United States.
Anthropic (AI scam analysis via the Claude API). Submitted message content is sent for analysis. Anthropic does not retain content for model training on Claude API requests.
Google Cloud Vision (extracting text from screenshots you submit).
Google Safe Browsing and VirusTotal (checking links you submit against known threat databases).
Apple and Google (handling the sign-in flow if you choose those providers).
Render (application hosting).

Each provider has its own privacy policy. We share with them only the minimum data required to perform their function.

Data Retention

We retain your scan history until you delete it or close your account. You can clear your full history at any time from Settings → Privacy → Clear all check history. When you delete your account, we delete all associated scans and account data within 30 days.

Sharing and Selling

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Request correction or deletion of that information.
Export your data in a portable format.
Object to or restrict certain processing.

Children's Privacy

ScamSnap is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Data Transfers

ScamSnap is operated from the United States. If you use the service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate.
